This is taken from Alan Whitmore's posting to the NCRockets list concerning changes under the new Tripoli Research Safety code. These will take effect after January first.
1. Adult TRA members who occasionally (or almost always) make their own motors: You will now be able to fly to a predicted altitude of 90% of the in-force waiver rather than only 75% as before with a rocket carrying a homemade motor. [At Bayboro, this means 14,400' instead of 12,000 feet waiver for Research Motors. At Orangeburg, this means 9,000 feet rather than 7,500 feet. Also, see #2 below.
2. Adult TRA members who never fly homemade motors: You will now be able to bring your children to Research launches and they will be allowed to fly and recover rockets and won't have to stay back at the cars.
3. Minors in the company of or supervised by adult TRA members: You will now be allowed to fly rockets at TRA Research launches! You will not be allowed in the High Power Pads area while there are rockets being loaded on the pads or standing on the pads awaiting launch or ignitor replacement, so please pay close attention to the instructions of the LCO before recovering your rockets.
4. Adult NAR and CAR members who are not also members of TRA: Nothing has changed for you. You may not participate in a TRA Research Launch except as a spectator.
