Freedom Launch 2010 is fast approaching. Plan on coming down to or up to Orangeburg, SC for the Labor Day weekend. We will have three days of rocket fun.

Saturday, 9/4 and Sunday 9/5 will be Tripoli Sport Launch Days, and a night launch will be held on Sunday evening. Sunday is selected so that fliers can visit the local restaurants of which many are closed on Sunday.

Monday, 9/6 will be Tripoli Research Launch Day. Only Tripoli Rocketry Association Members may fly. Commercial motors based on your cert level are allowed. Level 2 and 3 members may also fly research motors. See Research Launch notes down on page 6 of the Notes.

Flying will be from 10:00 AM until 7:30 (edit # 2 on time) PM on Saturday and 10:00 AM until 7:00 PM on Sunday, the Sunday night launch will be from 7:30 PM until 9:30 PM (edit # 2 on time) (night flights will have a 3,000' waiver limit, and each part of the rocket must have continuous illumination visible throughout the flight. Flying will be from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM on Monday.

Flight Fees will be $10.00 per day for non-club members, or $25.00 for all three days. Club member fees will be $5.00 per day.

Registration will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday morning.

Range Set-up will be on Friday 9/3 at 6:00 PM. Those assisting will be able to register at the end of Range Set-up.

A club work day will be held on Sunday, August 22nd at Danny Dempsey's home. We will begin at 9:30 AM. Main tasks will be checking out the launch system. We will also add a floor coating in the club trailer. If you need directions to Danny's send me an email.

[Bobby Weatherford edit]

Just chatted with Ed and we're entertaining switching the workday to Saturday, August 21st at Danny's. Please let Ed/Johnny/me know your thoughts on this one. We still need to see if this is okay with Danny.

Bobby

Ed Fenton edit

I spoke with Danny and we are go for workday this coming Saturday, 8/21 beginning at 9 AM. Danny will have the tent set up for shade. I will bring along my pop-up and table also, and a set of taps/dies to run the threads on the pads and oil them.

Ed

We will be coating the trailer drop down door and floor on Saturday, using a light tan colored aliphatic polyurthane with rubber bits for traction / non slip surface. Two coats will be put down.

Freedom Launch 2009 - Saturday, Sunday and Monday, Sep 5, 6, & 7. We are planning a night launch on Sunday, so that fliers can enjoy eating out on Saturday since many local restaurants are closed on Sunday. Monday is a Tripoli Research day only. The entire event is under Tripoli rules.

Flight Fees are $10.00 per day, $25.00 for all 3 days for Non Members.
$5.00 per day for club members.

Range Setup is planned for Friday evening at 6:00 PM.

A V-2 Mass Launch is planned for Monday from 11:00 to 12:00, we will fly the Low Power, then Mid Power, then High Power, then the Away Cell. All recovery will await the completion of all the V-2 Flights.
Due to the combined Impulse of Burl's Big V-2, observers will need to retreat from the flight line to one Pivot Wheel Track to the North before the Big V-2 is launched.

Plan to sign up for 2 hour shifts as RSO, LCO, and Pad Manager and reply who will be available for range set-up and take-down. You will earn a Freedom Launch Crew T-Shirt for working two or more 2-hour shifts or for working range set-up or for working range take-down, one Crew Shirt per person.

Bring Shade, sunscreen and plenty to drink.

Read the ICBM Site Rules.
